Wikispaces, the latest thing I am exploring... It is all very time consuming, hope it is worth the effort in the end. http://tafehospitality.wikispaces.com/

del.icio.us

One thing off the list, a del.icio.us site http://del.icio.us/tafehospitality

I advised colleagues as follows...
I have set up the following del.icio.us account http://del.icio.us/tafehospitality for us to save links to so that everyone can access them from any computer.

So far our delicious account has links that I had saved to my favourites that I thought appropriate for students and teachers. It is basically a list of links (with a brief description and tags so that you can search for them) to various internet sites, the list can be added to, edited or deleted at any time. If you have any comments or sites you would like added just email me the details or post a comment on the blog http://tafehospitality.blogspot.com/ I have put the link in the blog - in the side bar on the right. Alternatively if you want to add to our delicious site yourself just let me know and I will provide you with our account details and password.

I'm feeling much more comfortable with this now, I have a to do list(that I have announced to the world) and that seems to be a greatstarting point. I'm certainly commited to doing the list as who knows who might have read it and be expecting me to actually do something rather than just blog about it. I'm sure as I learn more about all of the things I have listed I will see how I might incorporate them into my teaching. I do have a module coming up called coach job skills where I would like to include something different, just not sure what or how. Maybe just make a few options available so students don't feel preassured into it.

The assessment evidence requires students to ...

1. submit an observation or evaluation report, or portfolio
AND/OR
2. demonstrate skills and knowledge in a simulation or role play in the workplace environment
AND/OR
3. report or case study

I'm sure there are endless possibilities - students could post photos or videos of them training someone at work, create a blog that detailed there progress of training someone or we could do class based stuff that I could post to make it available to them at a later date???

Just some initial thoughts, any specific suggestions will allways beappreciated.

I’m blogging on. I initially delved into this world of blogs for work – I set up a blog at the request of my head teacher tafehospitality.blogspot.com it hasn’t found its niche yet but with some time and nurturing I hope to develop a worthwhile reference for students. The reason I got the blog job was that I supposedly have the technical know-how when it comes to computers. After a recent 1 day training course (a continuation from some previous training on online learning) and my little jaunt into the world of blogs I have just realised that assumption is wrong, wrong, wrong. So, in the hope of becoming a little more tech savvy my online journey begins.
I’ve perused a few more blogs and established that yes, anyone can write a blog but it seems to help if you have some specialist knowledge or specific viewpoint to share. I’ve been sitting here for quite some time now and I haven’t come up with either. What to do? I could bail out now, the seemingly logical and time efficient thing to do OR…
